School Closure Notification System in the advent of Adverse Weather Conditions
At Trotts Hill we use a system called Everbridge to notify parents/carers of any school closures. This service is in addition to our Schoolcomms communications system that parents/carers are added to once their child starts with us. Once signed up to Everbridge, parents and carers will receive texts and emails to inform them of closures. This system also informs BBC 3 Counties radio (103.8 FM), Heart 103 Cambridge and HCC for the hertsdirect.org website.
To sign up, parents and carers will need to access the link below:
This link will direct you to the “Sign Up” page where you should click on the “sign up” button located at the top right hand side of the page on the grey strip and from there follow the instructions. It should take no more than 5 minutes to register and once registered you can edit your details at any time to update your mobile or email address. It is crucial you do this as soon as possible.
Each contact within the system can have 2 devices added for each communication type if they wish to. This means that in addition to adding your own mobile number and email address, you could include the mobile number and email address of a partner, grandparent or childminder in your registration process, allowing them to also receive a closure message.
If you have children attending more than one school you can also register for information from other schools during your registration set up.
As you will appreciate, the safety of staff and pupils is paramount and the decision to close a school is never taken lightly. For example, in extreme weather, the decision to close is taken based on the number of teaching staff who can safely travel to school affecting staff to pupil ratio.
It would be helpful if we could have a 100% uptake by parents and carers to ensure the correct information reaches parents direct from school as soon as possible.
If you have any queries, please contact the school office.
